Paediatric First Aid

The 2-day Paediatric First Aid course offered at Glasgow Clyde College covers all the relevant areas of first aid, as required by the Care Commission and other relevant bodies.

This award meets the Health and Safety requirements for owners, managers and employees in childcare, nursery and schools, and would be beneficial to anyone seeking employment in these areas.

Course content

  • assessment of danger 
  • anatomical difference between children and adults 
  • basic life support - including CPR, recovery position, choking 
  • head injuries 
  • meningitis 
  • asthma 
  • febrile convulsions 
  • diabetes 
  • epilepsy 
  • burns and scalds 
  • eye injuries 
  • shock 
  • bleeding and bandaging 
  • fractures 
  • electric shock 
  • anaphylactic shock and Epi-Pen 
  • drowning 
  • requirements of a first aid box 
  • parental administration of medicines.
On successful completion of this course you will be awarded the Paediatric First Aid Certificate. This is valid for three years.
