Disabled Student Allowance (DSA) Applications

Disabled Student Allowance (DSA) is available to students with disabilities or specific learning difficulties completing HNC or HND-level courses. DSA is funding awarded by SAAS that helps to pay for extra equipment or support that a student may require as a result of their disability or specific learning difficulty.

The allowance can help fund the cost of specialist equipment, extra travel costs and/or the use of a scribe/reader in class.

Students applying for DSA for the first time will require a needs assessment report to be carried out. This can be done at the College, which has been successfully validated as a Needs Assessment Centre. Our coordinators will support all students eligible for this allowance through every stage of their application. Students are advised to apply for DSA as soon, as possible as the process can be lengthy.

For more information about DSA you can speak to a member of staff at Equality and Support or visit www.saas.gov.uk
