National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher qualifications, accredited by the SQA, are typically studied at high school and college. These qualifications act as pathways to further study including university entry.

What will I learn?

The National 5 Mathematics course is assessed by a final exam in May. This has two papers, paper 1 is non-calculator and paper 2 allows the use of a calculator. 

The course will cover:

Mathematics: Expressions and Formulae

  • Use mathematical operational skills linked to expressions and formulae
  • Use mathematical reasoning skills linked to expressions and formulae.

Mathematics: Relationships

  • Use mathematical operational skills linked to relationships
  • Use mathematical reasoning skills linked to relationships.

Mathematics: Applications

  • Use mathematical operational skills linked to applications
  • Use mathematical reasoning skills linked to applications.

  3. After the deposit payment, you will have a balance of £210 to pay. This balance will be paid in instalments of £105 over the 2 subsequent months following your deposit payment. (payment required by the 31st of the month)
  4. Follow the instructions within your joining instructions to make your balance payments.
  5. There are no funding options or fee waivers available for this course.
  6. If you choose to make only a deposit payment, you agree to make all outstanding balances as directed.

Entry requirements (minimum)

  • Must have passed National 4 Maths (including Added Value Unit), Intermediate 1, Standard Grade General Level (or equivalent).
