During this evening workshop you will learn how to visibly mend and care for your garments. You will explore mending both woven and knit surfaces, visible mending and Swiss darning. As part of this workshop we will also explore the importance of extending the life of our garments and how easily this can be done at home.
What will I learn?
The course includes
- An introduction into issues of textile waste within the fashion industry, particularly at the end of life phase
- Exploring designers working with mending techniques
- By the end of the course you will have a practical understanding of how to mend surfaces and extend the life of loved garments
By the end of the course you will have a series of patch samples that can be incorporated into garments at home.
Entry requirements (minimum)
This course is open to all, but a keen interest in upcycling garments may be beneficial.
