Glasgow Clyde College is well-known for producing beauty and spa therapists who raise the bar in the beauty industry – and this unit course aims to take those skills to the next level. It is designed for qualified, experienced therapists to develop their knowledge and understanding of the psychological theories and sociological perspectives that impact upon the consultation process.
What will I learn?
The Advanced Leadership in the Spa and Beauty Industry: Communication and the Psychology of the Spa and Salon Journey unit offers an in-depth insight into:
- Psychological and sociological perspectives that impact on consultation process
- The effect of the spa and salon environment, social behaviours and individual difference on the consultation process
- Mental health conditions, the psychology of health and the implications for choice of treatment
- The role of the consultant in developing a considered approach to consultation.
Entry requirements (minimum)
- Qualified Therapists to S/NVQ level 3 or HNC Beauty Therapy with the following SVQ units:
- H5XP 04 Lead Your Team 7 9
- HA9V 04 Manage People’s Performance at Work 7 14
- H8H2 04 Provide Healthy, Safe, Secure and Productive Working Environments and Practices
- or CMI (Chartered Management Institute) Level 3 Certificate in Principles of Management and Leadership; OR
- HND Beauty Therapy; OR
- Spa professionals who are managing or working towards managing their own spa who have at least 5 year’s spa experience or equivalent industry experience comprising of supervisory skills at SCQF level 8 and practical skills in either facial or body treatments at a minimum of SCQF level 6/ S/NVQ level 2.
- You must also have excellent communication skills and be currently employed in the spa or beauty industry with the ability to work or gain experience in a supervisory position.
