Glasgow Clyde College is well-known for producing beauty and spa therapists who raise the bar in the beauty industry – and this unit aims to take those skills to the next level. It is designed for qualified, experienced therapists to enhance their knowledge and understanding of research skills and critical reflection.
What will I learn?
The Advanced Leadership in the Spa and Beauty Industry: Professional Development Project unit offers an in-depth insight into:
- Investigating a range of research skills for critical evaluation
- Developing analytical skills for research
- Developing digital skills to ensure portfolio evidence is correctly sourced and referenced
- Evaluating the impact on service delivery and the workforce of research findings,the value of reflection and self-evaluation and applying these skills to demonstrate a commitment to advanced professional standing in spa or salon skills
- Designing and evaluating a digital design plan – a code for Spas or Salons to follow to develop economic sustainability of the industry and protect the workforce that supports the launch of a new treatment protocol.
Entry requirements (minimum)
- Qualified Therapists to S/NVQ level 3 or HNC Beauty Therapy with the following SVQ units:
- H5XP 04 Lead Your Team 7 9
- HA9V 04 Manage People’s Performance at Work 7 14
- H8H2 04 Provide Healthy, Safe, Secure and Productive Working Environments and Practices
- or CMI (Chartered Management Institute) Level 3 Certificate in Principles of Management and Leadership; OR
- HND Beauty Therapy; OR
- Spa professionals who are managing or working towards managing their own spa who have at least 5 year’s spa experience or equivalent industry experience comprising of supervisory skills at SCQF level 8 and practical skills in either facial or body treatments at a minimum of SCQF level 6/ S/NVQ level 2.
- You must also have excellent communication skills and be currently employed in the spa or beauty industry with the ability to work or gain experience in a supervisory position.
