With Solar PV booming in recent years and increasing energy prices, demand for Electrical Energy Storage Systems, otherwise known as Battery Storage Systems, is increasing.
The BPEC Electrical Energy (Battery) Storage Systems (EESS) is recognised by Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). Successful candidates are awarded a certificate and ID card which are valid for five years. Candidates must be qualified electricians.

What will I learn?
Course fee: £450 and includes training, assessment, BPEC manual, registration and certification. The IET Code of Practice for Electrical Energy Storage Systems, 2nd Edition is available at an additional cost of £71.50 (no VAT charged).

BPEC Electrical Energy (Battery) Storage Systems, aimed at current practising electricians, electrical technicians, and engineers (with experience in electrical installations and associated inspection and testing) this course provides the necessary training to upskill existing skills to install EESS.

The IET Code of Practice for Electrical Energy Storage Systems, 2nd Edition is available at an additional cost of £71.50 (no VAT charged).
This course is categorised as part-time commercial training and is not eligible for any fee waiver or funding via the College. The student is liable for the payment of fees, unless an external training grant or employer support is confirmed at time of booking.
Entry requirements (minimum)
All candidates must be a competent electrician with the following:

SVQ in Electrical Installation at SCQF level 7

Up to date BS 7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations
Entry requirement verification required to confirm a booking.
An ECS card is accepted as verification of the entry requirements, if the qualifications above are listed on the back of the card. Otherwise, candidates must submit the certificates.
Stand-alone technical certificates, vocational or non-competency qualifications are NOT accepted.
