The Joinery: Introduction to Power Tools course will give you a basic understanding of using tools and equipment needed for certain joinery jobs. Over 8 weeks, you will learn how to use power tools for tasks such as fitting locks and hinges, building a frame and cladding, and laying a laminate floor.
What will I learn?
During the Joinery: Introduction to Power Tools course you will learn:
- Identify and learn how to use some basic joinery tools
- Measuring and cutting materials with power tools
- The use of various joints used in joinery
- How to cut mitre and scribe joints
- How to fit locks and hinges using a router
- Building a frame and a clad with plasterboard with fixing nailer and power screwdriver
- Floor joist frames, chipboard, decking
- Using a circular saw, jigsaw and reciprocating alligator saw
- Laminate flooring using a multi-tool when laying a laminate floor
Entry requirements (minimum)
Bring/wear overalls or old clothes.
While not compulsory, it is recommended that students are recommended to complete Introduction to joinery first or have had some hands-on experience previously.
