Access to HND Fashion and Textiles is an 18-week course which will introduce you to all aspects of fashion, textiles and communications and help you to release your creative potential. You will be taught by a dedicated and enthusiastic team of staff who have extensive experience and knowledge of the industry. This is the only course of it's kind which offers the breadth of skills to help you to progress to further study on fashion and textiles courses starting in August at Glasgow Clyde College.

What will I learn?
During the Access to HND Fashion and Textiles course you will develop a wide variety of skills including:
- During the course you will develop a wide variety of skills starting with drawing, research, and design development, whilst gaining an understanding of both pattern cutting, garment construction techniques and an introduction to sewing machines.
- You'll also learn textile skills including print, weave, and embroidery which will be introduced to you in our excellent facilities, which are equipped to industry standards.
- Throughout the course you'll build your communication skills and develop an understanding of the different career opportunities available through studying a creative course.

Entry requirements (minimum)
- There are no formal entry requirements
- You should provide a detailed personal statement in the application form which explains why you want to study fashion and textiles.
- You should include any previous experience you have in this field and demonstrate an interest in the subject matter.

Jobs and further study
If you show an aptitude and display advanced skills on the course you will be encouraged to apply for progression to HND courses starting in August at Glasgow Clyde College, including:
- HND Fashion Design
- HND Fashion Technology
- HND Fashion Textiles
- HND Fashion Communications
Alternatively, if you need more time to develop your skills, you will be encouraged to progress to the Foundation in Fashion and Textiles course.

When you apply
You will receive an automated email confirming that we have received your application
and will be in contact as per the following stages:
- Made a direct offer (unconditional or conditional), subject to a suitable application and personal statement containing details about why you are suitable for the course.
- You will be required to view the course presentation in the link below in advance of accepting an offer to ensure that the course content is suitable for you.

- Advised that your application is unsuccessful – you have not met the entry requirements for this course and are advised to contact the College Student Advice Centres to discuss alternative options which may be available to you.
- We aim not to reject an application and if you don’t meet the entry requirements you may be referred to a different course or level.
Following your application, the outcome will be one of the following:
- Unconditional offer of a place – you have met all the entry requirements and your place is guaranteed. You will be required to accept this offer to secure your place.
- Conditional offer of a place – your place is secured pending you meeting the entry requirements. This may mean achieving school or college qualifications which you may not be able to provide to us yet. You will be required to accept this offer to secure your conditional place. Once your conditions are met this will change to an unconditional offer of a place which you must accept before you can enrol on the course.
- Waiting list – you have met all entry requirements, and have been interviewed however, the course is now full so you have been placed on a waiting list. If any spaces become available you may be contacted, usually around the course start date. We would advise that you also consider other application options.
Once an offer is received, you must reply within 14 working days or risk losing your place, as the system will automatically decline your offer after 14 days.
Once you have accepted your offer, you will be sent out further information about the courses as well as instructions about student funding. This will normally be sent out in December / January.
