Dance Skills for P.E. Teachers will provide you with the knowledge and skills to confidently deliver a selection of SQA dance qualifications in schools. This course offers progression from the Dance Skills for P.E. Teachers course at Level 7, and throughout this course you will complete five units at SCQF level 8.

What will I learn?

This Dance Skills for PE Teachers (SCQF Level 8) course aims to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to confidently deliver two dance genres, as well as choreographic skills and theoretical knowledge to secondary school pupils wishing to undertake the SQA qualifications in NPA Dance, National 5 Dance or Higher Dance. 

Subjects covered:

  • Contemporary dance 
  • Jazz dance 
  • Choreographic skills
  • Dance history

The course is taught in the award-winning Dance Studio Scotland, based in the fantastic purpose-built facility at Glasgow Clyde College's Anniesland Campus. 

Entry requirements (minimum)

  • You must be a current P.E. Teacher and GTCS registered
  • Group interview / info session
  • Previous dance experience is advantageous
  • Excellent fitness levels
  • Learning gained from other qualifications will be recognised
  • HNC Dance or Dance for P.E. Teachers (Level 7)
