We take a look back at 2023

As we reach the last day of college for 2023, we thought we'd take a look back at the past year. Just some of the highlights included:

  • We worked with Wella to create and launch the first degree level qualification for hair colourists 
  • We received the Cycling Friendly Campus award from Cycling Scotland
  • We received an excellent annual engagement report from Education Scotland
  • Products created by the College’s Gift Gang (Skills for Life and Work students) were stocked by a west-end boutique
  • We received a bequest of artwork from the estate of the late Lillian Muir Lawrence
  • We launched the world’s first TikTok prospectus, ‘ProspecToks’ which offered real-life insight to college life
  • We worked with Glasgow City Council health and Social Care Partnership to create a new course for those wishing to pursue a career in social care
  • We opened a state-of-the-art electronics design studio at Cardonald Campus 
  • We offered 2 minute courses in Glasgow city centre in British Sign Language, Spanish and embroidery
  • We won an amazing 23 categories including the Deacon Convener’s Design Prize at Craftex 23
  • We signed a MOU with SRUC to create pathways for horticulture students
  • Alumni Darren McGarvey was inducted into the CDN Hall of Fame
  • We added new electric vehicle charging points to our automotive workshops, ensuring students are prepared for working with sustainable technology
  • We signed a MOU with the University of Glasgow to work closely on projects to boost productivity growth and inclusion across the region
  • We saw a strong uplift in student recruitment for academic year 2023/2024
  • We teamed up with the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit and Brothers in Arms to help train students who work with clients to support mental health conversations
  • We celebrated student success at our Graduation and Awards ceremony
  • Our students created a series of artwork in partnership with White Ribbon Scotland and ScotRail to raise awareness of abusive behaviour towards women
  • Students on our Community Newsletter course at Pollok Community Centre launched a new newsletter, ‘Pollok Paper’
  • We received four Highly Commended and a commended award at the sector’s CDN Awards
  • We launched our series of ‘TeachToks’, a collection of short, practical lessons inspired by January courses

We’re looking forward to seeing what 2024 has in store.
