Lights, Camera, Teach! BBC Scotland staff gain training qualifications

Staff from BBC Scotland’s lighting, scenic, floor managing, audio, vision, audience services, scheduling and safety teams have just levelled up their training experience thanks to Glasgow Clyde College lecturer Greig Renwick. After a month of intensive City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Education and Training, the BBC Scotland staff are now fully qualified to share their expertise with BBC crews across the country.
Congratulations to BBC Scotland staff, Paul Blake, Mark Clay, Craig Calderwood, Garry Ward, Jenn Ruxton, Jesse Godolphin, Robert McGroary, Gina Lee, Taryn Studzinski, Cheryleen Barrowman, Emma Waldron, and Joanne Willott for completing the course.
"Training in TV production is highly specialised, very specific and not readily available 'off the shelf'. While the expertise already exists within our own very experienced team, up until now our team leaders have had to train and develop the team’s skills without a standard framework. To address this we started working with Glasgow Clyde College to facilitate training with our team leads so they can deliver high quality and measured training. We can now proudly say that we have qualified staff delivering training in lighting, scenic, rigging, floor managing, audio, vision, audience services, scheduling and safety. This is a first for any production facility anywhere in the UK and shows our commitment to training the next generation of production professionals."
