Glasgow Clyde Creates: Fashion students showcase best work

Glasgow Clyde College fashion and textiles students are gearing up to host three fashion shows to share their designs and garments on 31 May.

Held at the Garment Factory in Glasgow city centre, second year students from HND Fashion Design, HND Fashion Technology, HND Fashion Textiles and HND/BA Textiles will all present their work from the last year, during three runway shows on the same day.

Wearing the designs on the catwalk will be an impressive selection of international models such as Michael Walker, who has opened shows for Paul Smith during Paris fashion week.

Students studying hair and beauty at the College will also be on hand to help backstage, while the event will be filmed by students studying television production courses

Robert Anderson, assistant principal, Faculty of Business, Creative and Digital Industries said: “We are delighted to be relaunching our end of year fashion show, ‘Glasgow Clyde Creates’. Before Cardonald College merged with Langside and Anniesland to become Glasgow Clyde College in 2013, we hosted the end of year show annually.

“Now we have an even larger pool of talent across the three campuses, and the time felt right to come back with a bang and hold this large-scale event to showcase the work of our talented students .”

Glasgow Clyde College is the forerunner in fashion and textiles courses, specialising in design, technology and textiles and students can access articulation links with some of the most prestigious fashion and art schools in the country, such as Glasgow School of Art, DJCAD, Gray’s School of Art, Heriot Watt and London College of Fashion. Articulation links provide a select number of guaranteed places to students across a variety of Higher Education establishments.

Robert continued: “We are very proud of our students, and the feedback from all of our partners is that their standard of work is truly exceptional. The college’s links across the industrial landscape and within Higher Education mean we really are showcasing the work of our country’s future creatives.”
