This Skills for Work course is designed to provide you with practical skills development and the application of those skills within project- based design and research work. The course is a mix of practical and theory with innovative learning approaches, based in excellent studio facilities. This course will encourage you to build communication and presentation skills which are required within the industry. You will get the opportunity to work alongside other creative courses and be taught by staff that have loads of industry experience.
This course will complement any creative subjects you are currently undertaking at school.
Qualification Breakdown
You will be studying 3 units to achieve the Skills for Work: Textile Industry course:
• An Introduction to the Textile Manufacturing Industry (HJ3V 75)
• Textile Technologies (HJ3X 75)
• Textile Products & Processes (HJ3W 75)
Entry requirements
You must have a clear interest in the subject area and be working at or working towards other SCQF Level 5 subjects.
Attendance Pattern
You will attend college Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 13:30 – 16:00.
Progression Pathways
On successful completion of this course, you will have the opportunity to be treated as an internal applicant. This will also be dependent on your attendance and commitment to this course. You could progress on to one of the following full-time programmes:
- Foundation in Fashion and Textiles
- HND Fashion Communications
- HND Fashion Design
- HND Fashion Technology
- HND Fashion Textiles
- Access to HND Fashion and Textiles
The level you might enter would depend on the level and relevance of your other qualifications.
