This Basic Sewing Beginners - Level 1 course is an ideal starting point for beginners. You will learn how to use a sewing machine and also be given lots of ideas and advice on suitable projects to get started on.

What will I learn?

For these evening sewing classes, please bring a pair of dressmaking scissors and a tape measure with you to the first class. You are asked to provide your own materials for the class and the tutor will explain what you need.

Please note: This sewing course is only for beginners. If you have previously completed this 8-week course and wish to continue your studies, please book one of our other fashion or textile courses.

Comments from previous students:

"The lecturer's patience explaining techniques to me was great. She made me believe I could master it."

"It was useful learning how to read a pattern and thread the machine."

"Very helpful to learn the basic skills that can be transferred, in time, to more advanced techniques."

Entry requirements (minimum)

While you'll have the use of sewing machines during this course, having the use of one outside of the classroom is advantageous to practise the skills and techniques learned each week. This allows you to maximise your time during the 8-week course.
