Automotive Modern Apprenticeship
Are you looking to train a young employee interested in working within the automotive engineering industry?
Modern Apprenticeships programmes offer the chance for students to gain a recognised vocational qualification in automotive engineering. The cost of training is fully financed by Glasgow Clyde College, with funding from Skills Development Scotland (SDS). All you need to pay is the young person’s weekly wage.
Course content
SVQ Level 2 - Includes Automotive Vehicle Workshop Environment Studies, Occupational Route Units and Fault Diagnosis.
SVQ Level 3 - Includes Automotive Vehicle Workshop Practices, Diagnosing Complex Faults, Repair Systems and Components.
Both also include the following 5 core skills at SCQF L5:
- Communications
- Problem solving
- Numeracy
- Working with others
- Information technology
Teaching methods and assessment
All our programmes are delivered using a wide range of teaching techniques. All City & Guilds courses are continually assessed by written, on-line and oral assessment or by practical work.
Entry requirements
Automotive Vehicle Maintenance and Repair SVQ Level 3 or equivalent. Entry will be by interview.
Fees and materials
The cost of the training will be fully financed by Skills Development Scotland.
Careers or further study
Successful completion at SVQ Level 2 may progress to SVQ Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair and HNC Automotive Engineering. This programme offers recognised qualifications.
Duration
Day release for 1 day a week over approximately 3 years. Work-based assessment.
